What Is iTero 3D Scanning?

Your dentist works with the most advanced equipment to keep your oral health pristine. iTero 3d scanners are one new machine we have in our office, allowing us to capture thousands of images of the inside of your mouth. These images are then put together to form an accurate model of your gums, teeth, and mouth in 3D. With these 3D models, dentists and orthodontists can assess the entirety of your mouth and accurately plan every stage of treatment for any dental issues you may have.

A scanner, known as a wand, will be used to take the pictures. It uses very low radiation lasers to take a max of 20 pictures per second as your dentist slowly moves the wand and rotates it to ensure that a complete scan of your mouth is taken.

As your dental professional moves the wand, a 3D model of your teeth, as well as the inside of your mouth, will begin to appear on the screen of the iTero scanner. The model is used to examine your teeth and determine the best treatment options for you.
